Recent winner of the Everybody Can Robert Presley Award, Owain received his Master’s in classical singing at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama. There he studied under the esteemed tutelage of David Pollard and was awarded the Keith Bonnington Prize at Guildhall for male voices. Prior to this, he began his Operatic training at Morley Opera School, London. Owain performed the role of Harašta in the OFFIE-winning Hampstead Garden Opera’s production of Cunning Little Vixen, and Antonio in Le Nozze di Figaro (also with HGO), which won the NODA London Opera Award for 2022. 

Owain most recently sang with the Grange Park Opera Chorus in their production of Tristan und Isolde in the summer of 2023. Additionally, the “…engaging” Welsh Baritone covered the lead role of Alfio as well as singing in the choruses in Cavalleria Rusticana and Il Paglicacci at West Green House Opera.

Owain thrives in the Baritone Operatic repertoire, with his most recent roles including Sid (Albert Herring), Il Notaro (Gianni Schicchi),  Pictordu (Cinderella, Viardot’s English Translation), and Vicar (Albert Herring) at St Paul’s Opera. Owain has also sung Belcore (L’Elisir d’Amore), Marcello ( La Boheme), Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni), Zurga (Les Pêchaurs de Perles), Jupiter (Orphee aux Enfers), Enrico (Il Campanello di Notte), Malatesta (Don Pasquale), Ben (The Telephone), King Hildebrand (The Enchanted Pig), Maximilian (Candide), Golaud (Pelléas et Mélisand) and Mr Jones (Street Scene) in opera scenes at the Guildhall and Morley Opera School. 

Owain, who has sung across the UK, is as comfortable on the concert platform as on the stage. As a Soloist, highlights include; Symphony No.2 (Mahler), Brockes Passion (Handel), Ein Deutsches Requiem (Brahms), Messa da Requiem (Verdi), Messiah (Handel) Requiem (Faure), St John's Passion (Bach) and The Creation (Haydn). 

Owain grew up in the Eisteddfod culture in Wales, where his passion for the performing arts was initially nurtured. Hailing from a family of creatives, Owain’s father is radio personality and prolific songwriter Hywel Gwynfryn. He has been a source of inspiration and great encouragement to Owain in his career. Owain’s diverse academic background, which includes a Master's in Chiropractic, has undoubtedly contributed to his successful career. His knowledge of Anatomy and the importance of posture and support has laid the foundation for his vocal training. Owain looks forward to taking his training from the Guildhall forward and making a lasting impact on the world stage.
